“Freedom with Purpose”
By Dianne Prince
“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another” (Galatians 5:13, NKJV).
Today, we pause and honor those who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is a solemn reminder that freedom always comes at a cost. As believers, we also remember the ultimate sacrifice Jesus made on the cross—a gift that brings us eternal life and true freedom.
The brave men and women who fought for our nation laid down their lives so we could live freely. In the same way, the freedom we have in Christ came at the highest cost—His life. Both sacrifices remind us that freedom is not the end. It is the beginning of a greater purpose.
The question for us to ponder this morning is this: What will we do with the freedom we have received? Scripture calls us not to use our liberty for selfish gain, but to serve one another in love. In light of the courage shown by those who died for our country, and the grace shown by our Savior who died to set our souls free, may we commit to living lives that are outward-focused and full of purpose.
Live this day with intention. Pause and remember. Set aside distractions. Love deeply. Serve joyfully. Live gratefully. Let your life be a light that points others to the freedom found in Christ.
On this Memorial Day, as you reflect on the sacrifices made—both on the battlefield and at the cross, strive to live a life that serves, uplifts, and shines with the love of Christ. Your freedom has purpose—walk in it boldly.
