“Rejoice in Plenty and in Lack”

By Dianne Prince
“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19, NKJV).

The Apostle Paul wrote these powerful words from a prison cell. His view each day was limited to four cold, stone walls. He had no possessions, no freedom, no comfort—yet his spirit overflowed with joy. How? Because his hope was not grounded in his circumstances. It was anchored in Christ.

Paul had learned the secret of contentment—rejoicing in plenty and in lack. His confidence came from knowing that God is faithful to provide, not according to human resources, but “according to His riches in glory.” That means God supplies from an infinite source, untouched by the ups and downs of life.

When we face uncertainty—financial stress, loss, or hardship—it is easy to become anxious. But Paul reminds us: Do not be anxious about anything (Philippians 4:6). Instead, trust the same God who spoke the world into existence.

Your reminder for today is this. Whatever season you are in—abundance or need—rejoice. God is still on the throne. He sees your situation and has not forgotten you. His provision may not always come in the way you expect, but it will come in the way you need.

God is more than enough. He is walking with you. He is your constant and your source. He is not limited, and your story is not finished. Tell Him what you need. And praise Him in advance for what He plans to do.
