“Today Was Already Written”

By Dianne Prince

“You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed: (Psalm 139:16, NLT).

Before you even opened your eyes this morning, God had already written today.

Today’s scripture reminds us that every single day of our lives was recorded in God’s book before we took our first breath. Every detail—every high and every low—was already laid out by the One who created us with care and purpose.

So instead of asking, “What will today bring?” the better question is, “How do I live in what God has already prepared for me?”

Here are four ways to walk in His plan:

  1. Bloom Where You’re Planted. Be faithful right where you are. Use what’s in your hands. Do your best with what God has placed in front of you. Sometimes the way forward isn’t about moving—it’s about staying grounded and praising God where you are.

  2. Invite God Into Your Plans. It is okay to make plans—but ask God to breathe on them. Say, “Lord, align my thoughts with Yours.” You will be amazed how God can redirect your day for the better when you welcome Him in.

  3. Listen for His Voice. God still speaks—especially through His Word. But you have to quiet the noise. Spend time in stillness and prayer, and His voice will become clearer than the distractions around you.

  4. Wait When the Way Is Unclear. Sometimes you face two good options. When that happens, do not rush. Wait on God to clarify the way. He will close the wrong doors and open the right ones in His perfect timing.

Jeremiah 29:11 reinforces this truth: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’”

God’s plans for you today are good. They are full of hope, purpose, and promise. You don’t have to figure it all out—you just have to trust the One who already has. Why? Because you are not stepping into uncertainty. You are stepping into a day that was deliberately designed before it ever began. Walk in confidence. Rest in God’s plan. And trust that He has already gone before you.
