“When You Feel Overwhelmed”

By Dianne Prince

“When my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” — Psalm 61:2 (NKJV)

There are moments in life when the weight feels unbearable—when responsibilities pile up, decisions press in, and your heart seems to sink beneath the surface of stress, sorrow, or uncertainty. In those moments, be reminded that you do not have to carry it alone.

God has provided a refuge, a place higher than the chaos. That place is Himself. The psalmist does not plead for the pressure to vanish, but for guidance to the Rock that rises above it all. That Rock is God.

He is your firm foundation when everything else is shifting. He lifts you above the noise and confusion, offering clarity, calm, and a renewed perspective. Being led to the Rock does not always mean your circumstances change immediately. It means you are changed. You become anchored in peace rather than tossed by panic. You begin to see from a place of strength rather than struggle.

If your heart feels overwhelmed today, pause and pray: “Lord, lift me up. Lead me to higher ground.” He is willing. He is able, and He is always near.
