“Light for the Next Step”

By Dianne Prince

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” — Psalm 119:105 (KJV)

Faith is not about seeing the full picture; it is about trusting God with the next step. We often want clarity before we move—blueprints, outcomes, and assurance. But Scripture tells us that God’s Word is a lamp to our feet, not a spotlight that illuminates the whole road. His guidance often comes step by step, not all at once.

Think of walking a path at night with only a lantern in your hand. You can see just far enough to take the next step safely. That is how God often leads us—not by sight, but by faith, as we trust in His Word to direct us moment by moment.

Abraham journeyed without knowing his destination. Peter stepped onto stormy water with only Jesus’ command. They moved forward with limited vision but firm trust.

You may not know what lies ahead, but if you are holding on to God’s promises, you are not walking in darkness. His Word will light your way. Keep walking. Keep trusting. The path may be dim, but God is faithful and He will not let your foot slip.
