“Trust Leads to A Healthy Spirit”
By Rev. Everett R. Kimble, Sr.
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. —John 14:16 and 26
Your body wants to be healthy; it wants to work properly, burn fat and gain muscle. Your body wants to be able to work at its most efficient and effective self so much so that it is constantly sending out signals and looking for signs of something wrong and if found, it tries on its own to repair the problem. But there is a down side, if it is unable to fix the problem, it just keeps on working and trying to fix things even to the point of breakdown or build up, and that is what causes disease and sickness.
But the body wants to be healthy, so if you just do the work and give it what it needs, it will find a way to stay healthy.
Your spiritual being is much like your physical body; it wants to be healthy. Your spirit is constantly searching for ways to help you get right. It moves from glory to glory reflecting the awesome image of an awesome God, and it immediately knows when there is something wrong and it sends you the information you need to correct the problem. If you follow Gods instructions, you can fix your spirit, if you ignore them you get a breakdown or build up, and that’s not good.
But your spirit wants to be healthy, if you do the work and follow the Spirit; Spiritually you will be healthy. Someone this morning is dealing with a broken spirit and it is understandable with all that is going on in the world. You have been broken and hurting so long that you have become addicted to your pain. You have learned how to hide it from those closest to you. You have trained yourself to function in a somewhat normal fashion, but it is getting harder and harder. You still go to church, but you have lost the joy you once had. That little pep in your step is almost gone and the mornings are not all that bright.
Right here is where I want to encourage someone today. You don’t have to struggle any longer. You may be broken physically, but spiritually you can be completely healed. You can have the peace that God promised you, but first, you have to trust Him. You can forgive and let go but you have to give it to God. You can return to the joy of your salvation but you have to listen to the spirit. You know the spirit is telling you just trust God because it wants to be healthy. A healthy spirit means a healthy you.
“16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 26But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”
Listen to your spirit today, it will remind you everything you need to know to be spiritually healthy. Have a blessed, bountiful, and beautiful Friday!
