“Keep Moving Forward”

By Dianne Prince

“The LORD commanded Moses and Aaron to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt” (Exodus 6:13b, NLT).

Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt at God’s command, only to have Pharaoh and his army pursue them. The people complained and spoke harshly to Moses. Yet he stayed with God’s plan—despite criticism, disapproval, and condemnation. Even when it looked like God’s people would drown in the Red Sea, Moses remained obedient. And because of that, God was with him, and the people crossed safely on dry ground.

Here is the reminder for you today: Do not be discouraged when the unexpected happens. Do not turn back when things get hard. Do not give up when the way ahead is unclear. And do not lose faith when you find yourself fighting for your health, your children, or your provision.

The road to victory is rarely smooth. Sometimes you can do exactly what God told you to do and still end up in a hard place. You can be delivered from one trial, only to find yourself in another. Success comes by expecting the unexpected, facing one obstacle at a time, trusting God to get you through “this” just as He got you through “that,” and staying obedient until the end.

If things are rocky and you have not heard new instructions from God, keep moving in the last direction He gave you, no matter the opposition. Flow with the last word until He gives the next one. Why? Because God rewards obedience, and He delivers those who move by faith.

As He told Joshua, He tells you today: “Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do” (Joshua 1:7, NLT).

When the waters rise and the enemy closes in, your victory is on the other side of obedience—so keep moving forward.
