No Longer the Same
By Dianne Prince
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV)
Coming to Christ is more than a decision—it is a transformation. The moment we received Him, we were made new. Our old identity, marked by sin and separation from God, no longer defines us. We are now children of God, forgiven, restored, and called to live with purpose.
This truth is powerful because it means our past does not hold us hostage. The enemy would like us to stay chained to guilt, shame, or regret, but Jesus declares freedom. What was once broken is now being made whole. What was once hopeless is now filled with promise.
As new creations, we are called to be living proof of God’s grace. Think of God’s grace like someone paying for your meal at a restaurant when you cannot afford it. You did not earn it, you did not deserve it, but because of their kindness, you are fed and cared for. That is how God treats us. He gives us His love, forgiveness, and help freely, even when we cannot “pay” for it ourselves.
People should be able to see the evidence of Christ’s work in us—not perfection, but transformation. Our words, attitudes, and actions can testify that Jesus is alive in us. Just as Christ showed us mercy, we are now empowered to extend mercy. Just as He forgave us, we are to forgive. Just as He gave us new life, we can point others to that same life.
You are no longer who you were. Walk boldly as the new creation God has called you to be.
