“The Right Perspective”

By Rev. Everett R. Kimble, Sr.

“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”— 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT)

I was out taking my morning walk in the neighborhood, and as I approached a little bridge at the mouth of a stream that flowed from the lake, I noticed a large rock that I had not seen before.  It hadn’t rained in a few days, and the water was low, so I just shrugged it off.  I picked up the pace in an attempt to shred a few more calories.  Hurrying over the bridge I crossed over the huge rock, but just as I walked past it I realized that it was not a rock at all, but a huge alligator.  We must have startled each other because he scurried off in one direction as I darted off in the other (Yep, that’s exactly how I was feeling).  But what happened?  Did the rock change?  No, what changed was my perspective.  I could not see what it was until I got into the right position.

And here is where I want to encourage someone today by simply saying; All you need is the right perspective.  With limited knowledge you are running from this place to the next, from this person to that one and no one or anything seems to be working.  You have tried all kinds of tactics and tricks in an effort to get over it or around it when all the time the place where God wanted you to be is where you are.  Maybe with all that is happening in your life right now it is hard to imagine that this is where you are supposed to be, but that is how God works.  He must take you through a place so He can get you to a place.  His plan is always to empower you, not devour you.

Let me encourage you again, ask God to help you get in the right position. You are about to have a breakthrough, not because you are going to do it, but because God is going to show you the escape route, the route with all of the answers to all of your questions.  What you have to do is ask Him, and then trust Him.  He’s waiting to change your perspective and it probably looks nothing like you imagined.

“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure” (1 Cor. 10”13, NLT).

Have an awesome Friday!
