“One Person at a Time”

By Dianne Prince

“Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distress.” (Psalm 107:28, NIV)

Many Christians often discuss how bad the world is becoming. Yet if this world is to change, we must confront evil head-on—through the power of God. How do we do this? We begin with prayer, focusing on one person at a time.

The Word of God teaches that when we cry out to Him, He moves and delivers us from distress. Evil will remain until Jesus returns, but as we pray for those within our reach—our families, our friends, and those we encounter each day—evil loses ground, one heart at a time. We may not reach everyone, but we can change the course of someone’s destiny through love and prayer.

Today’s challenge is simple: call to mind one person who has drifted from God, one who does not know Him, or one situation that needs divine intervention. Our role is not to argue, condemn, or convince; it is to love.

Showing love looks different for each person. For a strong-willed family member, it may mean listening without interrupting or offering opinions. For someone who has lost their way, it may mean withholding judgment and gently reminding them that we all fall short, yet God is faithful to restore when we trust Him.

Our mission is not to judge but to intercede. As we stand in the gap through prayer, God will draw the lost and the weary back to Himself—one person at a time.
