“Grace Greater than Guilt
Grace Greater Than Guilt
By Dianne Prince
“Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and He knows everything.” — 1 John 3:20 (NLT)
We have all done things in the past that we regret. The enemy often brings them to mind, trying to lead us into guilt, inadequacy, or the sense that we are failures. Yet God reminds us not to dwell on choices that were not in line with His Word. Why? Because when we confessed them to Him, He cast them into the sea of forgetfulness. If He no longer remembers them, why should we?
Even when we strive to do what is right, there are moments when we miss the mark. Sometimes our best efforts are misunderstood. Our kindness may be rejected, or our words may be taken the wrong way.
John’s encouragement in this verse is threefold:
-
Even when we make mistakes, there is no need to condemn ourselves, for God is greater than our failures.
-
Even when others misunderstand us, God knows our hearts.
-
Even when people reject our kindness, God understands our intentions.
Be encouraged today: God sees you. He sees your daily effort to live rightly, your prayers for your family, your care for loved ones, and your quiet sacrifices for others. So continue to do good. Continue to speak kind words. Continue to serve with a spirit of excellence.
It is not about your past mistakes or achieving perfection today—it is about the heart behind what you do. Whatever happened yesterday, whatever may come today, and whatever others may say, remember this unshakable truth: God’s grace is always greater than your guilt.
