“The Power of Remembering”

By Dianne Prince

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” — Psalm 103:2 (NKJV)

Thanking God grows stronger when we take time to remember. The psalmist reminds his soul not to forget God’s benefits—His mercy, healing, protection, forgiveness, and love. Remembering what God has already done strengthens our faith for what He will do next.

Life’s challenges can easily cloud our memory. We often focus on what is missing rather than recalling how far God has brought us. But when we pause and look back, we begin to see the pattern of His faithfulness woven through every season of our lives. The times we thought we would not make it—He carried us. The prayers we whispered in tears—He answered in His time. The things we once worried about—He made them fade away.

Remembering what God has done restores our perspective. It reminds us that the same God who helped us before is helping us now. Remembering what God has done builds our trust for today and strengthens our hope for tomorrow. Reflecting on yesterday’s blessings gives us confidence that God will supply tomorrow’s needs.

Today, take a moment to remember. Reflect on a time when God made a way, opened a door, or gave you peace in the middle of chaos. Let that memory spark a fresh praise in your heart. The power of remembering turns reflection into worship and worry into peace.

When we remember what God has done, we are assured that He will never fail us now.
