“Let It Be Unto Me”

By Dianne Prince

“Then Mary said, ‘Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.’” — Luke 1:38 (NKJV)

Mary’s response to the angel Gabriel remains one of the most beautiful expressions of faith in all of Scripture. Faced with a calling that she could not fully understand and a future filled with uncertainty, she chose surrender over fear and obedience over resistance. Her willingness to say, “Let it be to me according to Your word,” opened the door for the greatest miracle the world has ever known.

Her example teaches us that faith is not the absence of questions. It is the presence of trust. Mary likely had fears, and she certainly faced challenges, yet her heart was fully yielded to the will of God. This same posture of surrender prepares us to experience the fullness of God’s plan for our lives.

In this Advent season, God may be calling you to trust Him in new ways. He may be leading you into unfamiliar territory or inviting you to release things that have weighed your heart down. When we respond with surrender, we create space for God to work powerfully within us.

Surrender is not weakness. It is strength. It is a declaration that God’s wisdom is greater than our understanding and that His plans are far better than anything we could design for ourselves.

Like Mary, may your heart say today, “Lord, let Your will be done in my life.” God’s plans are good, His timing is precise, and His promises will always come to pass.
