“Always the Same”
By Rev. Everett R. Kimble, Sr.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas…” (Hebrews 13:8-9).
These verses are pretty straight forward; they tell us what many of us already know. Jesus is always Jesus, and His love never fails. But the world is always trying to tell us and teach us something new and different.
In Bethlehem, when He was born in the lowly manger, He was Jesus. When His parents found Him in the temple, teaching the elders as a little boy, He was Jesus. When He turned the water into wine at the wedding in Cana, He was Jesus. When He displayed a power so strong that it flowed from His garment into the woman with the issue of blood and healed her, he was Jesus. When He took two little fish and five barley loaves of bread and fed a great multitude, He was Jesus. When he met the woman at the well and reminded her of the past she thought was hidden, He was Jesus. When He healed the sick, raised the dead, blessed a blind man with sight, walked on water and the greatest of all, when He hung on a tree and died, was buried in a tomb and then got up from the grave definitely then, He was Jesus.
He never changed, He never faltered or wavered, and still today Jesus is Jesus.
If you have a problem and you are struggling to find the solution, Jesus can solve it. If you or a loved one is sick and even the doctors are finding it hard to help you get well, Jesus is still a healer. If you are hungry and not sure where your next meal is coming from, Jesus can help you find food for your body, but He is always food for your soul. If you are fighting with your demons and you can’t seem to break free, Jesus has the power to free you today. If you feel like you have done something terrible and have gotten so far away from God that you are at a point of no return, you are wrong. All you have to do is stop where you are, call on the name of Jesus, and he will come right this moment and see about you.
In the equation of life in Jesus, you are the only variable. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He has already done the work required to reconcile us to God and to bring us into the abundant life that He has promised. All we have to do is stop wavering and trust Him completely.
1 John 3:16 “And we know what real love is because Jesus gave up His life for us…”
Whatever you need today, call Him. He is still Jesus.
Today marks the beginning of something incredibly beautiful. Be blessed, enjoy, and have a happy and wonderful New Year!!!
