“Life Happens”
By Dianne Prince
“You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail” (Proverbs 19:21, NLT).
There is a quote that says, “Life is what happens to you when you are busy making other plans.” We all make plans. However, the best of plans can be interrupted by life. The best laid plans can be derailed by circumstances beyond our control. A long-planned vacation can be interrupted in a moment by the death of a loved one. Long enjoyed financial stability can be wiped out in a day by an unexpected financial obligation. And your life can be turned upside down in an instant because of an unforeseen situation that occurred because of no fault of your own. Life happens. And plans are overturned.
Today’s scripture commands you to make your plans but ask God to breathe upon them and tweak them according to where He is trying to take you. When you pray for your plans to line up with God’s destiny for your life, do not be surprised at how your day will shake up and take a new turn, a different road, an unexpected path and a different course.
Therefore, when things do not go according to your plans, shift with the change. Ride with the tide. Go with the flow. Why? Because God is trying to take you to a new place. He is trying to do something different and something better in your life.
Today, remember that life happens, and plans change. However, life does not happen to you. It happens for you. Thus, use what is in your power to control what you can and trust God to work out the rest as it happens.
