“Keep Shining”
By Rev. Everett R. Kimble, Sr.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” (John 1:1-5)
I just needed to encourage someone today who is feeling as if the pain, struggle, loneliness, sadness, and darkness of life have completely taken over; there is still life and light because you are the light. You live in Jesus and He lives in you; you are bigger and stronger than anything destructive or anyone determined to tear you down. Keep praising God and don’t allow yourself to become discouraged when others can’t understand your praise. Maybe they can’t understand because they are standing in the darkness and they are blinded by your light.
Have you ever walked outside on a bright and sunny day and had to pause for a moment to allow your eyes to become adjusted to the light? Even when it was beautiful, warm, and inviting, it still took a minute to get used to. Well, sometimes you must give people time to adjust to your light. And I’m not suggesting that being bold for Christ is a bad thing, but it does take some getting used to.
The weight of being the light can get heavy, but the good news today is the more you shine the brighter and lighter it becomes. Smile and pray with someone today. Feed or help feed a family today. Only speak kind and loving words today. Visit and give a little of your time today. Your presence is priceless. Matthew 5:16 reminds you to, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Being all that God has created you to be gives glory to Him and God’s glory is the life and the light of us all.
I heard someone say, “If you do it right it will turn out right.” Stay faithful keep shining and God will make everything alright.
Have a beautiful, blessed and bright Friday.
