“Follow God”

By Dianne Prince

“Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” — Matthew 4:19 (NKJV)

Jesus does not demand that we have it all together. He simply says, “Follow Me.” There is power in that call. It is not based on us being perfect, us being strong or us being brave. It is based on His desire for us to trust Him as He leads us to fulfill our purpose.

To follow Christ means to trust where He leads us, even when the path is unfamiliar. It requires us to leave behind what is comfortable and embrace the uncertainty of where He is trying to take us. The disciples left their nets, their careers, and what was familiar, and what they gained far exceeded what they gave up.

God is still calling us today. He calls us out of our routine to connect with Him and walk into the unknown. He calls us out of fear to walk by faith even if we are scared. He also calls us to drop some old habits, cut ties with some people who have been holding us back, and to try some things differently than we have done in the past.

Do not wait until you feel ready. Readiness is not a requirement; willingness is. Stop holding onto what is and say yes to where God is trying to take you. When you say yes to Him, He equips you every step of the way.

Your willingness to follow God will always lead you into His greater purpose.
