“Make Room for God”

By Dianne Prince

“Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10, KJV).

Our phones are always ringing. Our text notifications are always buzzing. Our schedules are always full. Our attention is constantly pulled in a dozen directions. Our minds race to keep up with all that needs to be done—right now, today, tomorrow, and beyond. In the chaos, stillness feels like a luxury we cannot afford.

In today’s scripture, God gives us a different perspective. He commands us to be still—not just to stop moving, but to quiet our souls, slow our thoughts, and focus on His presence.

Stillness is not inactivity. It is intentional space carved out to remember who God is. It is choosing to pause so we can hear His voice above the noise. In that quiet, we are reminded that He is in control, not us. That His presence brings peace, not pressure. That we do not have to carry the weight of the world—He already does.

Today, take a few moments to step away from the busyness. Silence your phone. Let the calendar wait. Breathe deeply and sit in God’s presence. Let your heart rest in the knowledge that He is God—and you are not alone.

Stillness may seem small, but it makes room for God to be a part of your day. When you slow down and listen, He will fill you with His peace. He will anchor you in His truth. And He will strengthen you to face whatever comes next.

Be still. God is God. God is in charge. And God is with you.
