“A Living Sacrifice”

By Rev. Everett R. Kimble, Sr.

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you.  Let them be a living and holy sacrifice-the kind. He will find acceptable.  This is truly the way to worship Him” (Romans 12:1 (NLT).

The question that I have for each of us today is; how is your worship?  There is no doubt that the world around us is chaotic.  Brokenness is everywhere.  Families get torn apart daily, neighborhoods are overrun with drugs, cities are plagued with crime, education systems are eroding before our eyes, and our government seems to be running rampant with corruption.  If ever there was a time for the “Children of God” to shine, now is the time.  But where do we begin?

It can be a daunting task finding a place to jump in and go to work, my suggestion is that we make ourselves available and then trust God to show us the way.  His desire is for us to come to Him as living sacrifices ready and willing to do whatever He gives us to do.  And here is where I would like to encourage you all today. Commit to doing these three things and watch God use you to bless others.

First, commit yourself to prayer each day.  Not just corporate prayer, but personal and private prayer.  Pour out your heart to God He is waiting to hear from you.

Next, commit to spending time in God’s word.  The Bible is where He pours His heart out to you, and it is where you will find His acceptable and perfect will.

Last, commit to loving people in the ways He will place on your heart as you pray and study His word.  You won’t have to look for opportunities they will be revealed to you because He already knows what and where He needs you.

Proverbs 3:5, 6 (KJV) Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy way acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy path.

Pray, study, and love, just like that.  Have a blessed and wonderful Friday!
