“Pray It All”

By Dianne Prince

“O my God, may Your eyes be open and Your ears attentive to all the prayers made to You in this place.” — 2 Chronicles 6:40

As Solomon dedicated the newly built temple in Jerusalem, he led Israel in a heartfelt prayer. He did not pray in generalities. He prayed specifically for protection from enemies, drought, famine, disease, and disaster. He also prayed for God’s forgiveness and mercy when His people sinned (2 Chronicles 6:22–39).

Solomon’s example reminds us that God wants us to be specific when we pray. Although God already knows our needs, prayer is our confession that we cannot meet them without Him. It is our declaration that we trust His wisdom, depend on His power, and place every concern into His hands.

Too often, we allow the size of our problems to water down the content our prayers. Fear, disappointment, and uncertainty can cause us to ask for less than what God is able to do. However, our circumstances should never limit our faith.

Your reminder for today is this: Do not let the size of your problem shrink the size of your prayer. Whatever concerns you today already has God’s attention. He is never overwhelmed by what overwhelms you. Even now, He is working behind the scenes, arranging people, circumstances, and timing according to His perfect will.

Approach God with confidence. Tell Him exactly what is on your heart. Be honest, be specific, and expect Him to move. His eyes are open, His ears are attentive, and He delights in hearing the prayers of His children.
