“God Helps the Helpless”
By Dianne Prince
“And shall God not avenge His own elect, which cry day and night unto Him, though He bear long with them?” — Luke 18:7 (KJV)
In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus tells the story of a widow who had no influence, wealth, or powerful connections. She could not force the unjust judge to hear her case. She simply continued to come, believing that someone had to listen. Eventually, even the unjust judge responded because of her persistence. Jesus then points us to a greater truth: if an unjust judge will act, how much more will a righteous God defend His own children.
God has always been the Defender of those whom the world overlooks. He sees the forgotten employee passed over for promotion, the single parent struggling to make ends meet, the elderly neighbor who feels invisible, and the believer who has been treated unfairly. When people lack influence or resources, God does not overlook them. He becomes their Advocate.
Perhaps you have found yourself in a situation where no one seems willing to stand with you. You may not have the finances to fight, the position to be heard, or the connections to open doors. This passage reminds us that heaven is never indifferent to earthly injustice. God hears every prayer and works on behalf of those who trust Him.
Continue to pray. Continue to believe. Continue to walk in faith. The God who sees your tears also sees your need, and His justice always arrives at the perfect time.
When the world says you have no standing, remember that you stand before the King of kings, and He never ignores the cry of those who belong to Him.
God helps the helpless.
