“Trust God”

“The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him” (Nahum 1:7, NIV).
The book of Nahum illustrates that God shows great mercy to those who trust in Him. Today’s scripture reminds us that, as Christians, we are not exempt from trouble simply because we live right, do the right thing, and treat others well. We are reminded this morning that God allows rain to fall on both the just and the unjust, bringing trouble into each of our lives. Trouble may come in the form of worry, depression, loss of hope, unexpected illness, the loss of a loved one, financial problems, or children who go their own way.
We will not always understand why God does what He does or allows what He allows, but we do know that God is in charge, knows what He is doing, and has each of us covered from top to bottom and from the center to both sides.
The encouragement for you today is this: do not be concerned about what today may bring. Remember that God sees what is coming around the corner before you get there. He approves everything that happens before it happens and has already made provisions for what needs to be done to get you through it.
So today, let go of any plans you may have to fix things and follow God where He leads you. Let go of any desire to manipulate the outcome to a certain end and go along with what God allows. Dig in and trust God blindly. If you do not have the faith to trust Him, ask Him to help your unbelief. As you release your concerns to Him, He will provide you refuge and take care of you.
