“Be Still”
By Dianne Prince
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10a (NKJV)
We live in a world that celebrates constant motion. We are taught to keep moving, keep producing, keep planning, and keep solving. Yet there are moments when God calls us to do something that feels completely opposite: Be still.
Being still does not mean that you are giving up. Stillness is an act of faith. It is the confidence to believe that God is working even when we cannot see movement. It is trusting that His hands are at work when our hands are not.
Sometimes we become so busy trying to fix everything that we leave no room to hear the voice of the One who already knows the answer. Today’s scripture reminds us to quiet our hearts, release our fears, and rest in His presence.
Take a moment today to pause. Breathe. Be still. Let the noise settle and allow your heart to remember who God is. Your peace does not come from having every answer, controlling every outcome, or knowing what happens next. Your peace comes from knowing that God is still God.
When you cannot see what He is doing, trust Him. When you cannot change the situation, surrender it to Him. When you feel weary from trying, rest in His presence.
Take this with you today: I can be still because God is working, and I can rest because He is in control.
