“Blessed to Do”
By Dianne Prince
“But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.” — James 1:25 (NKJV)
It is one thing to hear the Word of God, but it is another thing to live it. Today’s scripture reminds us that our blessings are connected to our obedience. God did not give us His Word merely to inspire us on Sunday morning or encourage us in a difficult moment. He gave us His Word to transform how we live every day.
As we read and meditate on the Word of God, He will show us what needs to change, but He will not force us to obey Him. Faith is more than what we read, hear or meditate on. Faith becomes powerful when we put God’s Word into practice.
You may be waiting for a breakthrough, praying for direction, or asking God for the next step. Perhaps the answer is obvious because of what you read or heard in the Word of God. Take the step. Forgive. Serve. Pray. Trust. Give. Love. Keep going.
Obedience does not always feel comfortable, but it will always move us closer to God’s purpose. When we become doers of the Word, our lives become evidence that the Word works.
So today, do not merely hear the Word. Receive it. Believe it and walk it out. Your blessings are not found in simply knowing what God said. Your blessings are found in faithfully doing what He said.
Hear the Word. Obey the Word, and walk boldly in the blessings of the Word.
