“From Loss to Restoration”
By Dianne Prince
“The LORD restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before” (Job 42:10, NIV).
In Job chapter 1, we learn how to respond when calamity strikes. Job lost all his livestock, his farmhands and servants were killed, and his ten children died—all in a single day, one disaster after another.
But in the final chapter, Job 42, God restores Job’s fortunes, giving him twice as much as he had before. Why? Because Job kept his focus on God and persevered to the end.
Perhaps the enemy has taken something precious from you—be it a job, a loved one lost to Alzheimer’s, the justice system, or death. Maybe you’ve lost your joy and peace of mind as you struggle spiritually, financially, or with a health condition. Whatever your situation, know that God sees you. He knows your circumstances and has a plan for you.
No matter what troubles you’re facing, whether you’re in your own Chapter 1 or Chapter 31, hold on—Chapter 42 is coming.
Today, resolve to rejoice in the good, be content in the bad, and praise God every day, regardless of your circumstances. As you endure to the end, God will restore what was lost, stolen, or slipped away.
