“Your Best Is Yet to Come”
By Dianne Prince
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. … So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” — (2 Corinthians 4:16, 18, NIV).
When we look around at the world today, it can feel like everything is falling apart. The political climate is shaky. Prices are rising faster than we can keep up. We see injustice, division, and uncertainty at every turn.
And then, closer to home, we see loved ones struggling with sickness,
bills piling up, and young people drifting, trying to find their way. Sometimes, it feels as though things are not getting better.
Listen—we cannot get stressed because of what we see. We cannot lose faith because of what is happening on the outside. We cannot submit to what we see with our eyes, because what we see will discourage us.
We cannot concede to what we feel in our flesh, because our feelings can deceive us. And we cannot surrender to what we think in our minds, because our thoughts can cause us to lose hope.
Realize today that things are not always what they seem. What we see right now is only temporary. Temporary things are here today and gone tomorrow. Some seasons last longer than we want, but if we stay the course, if we trust God every step of the way, even the hardest times will pass.
Here is what I want you to remember: What you see today is not the end.
This is not as good as it gets. Do not become distracted by what is in front of you.
Fix your eyes on what you cannot see. If you can see it, it will pass. If you can feel it, it will fade.
Jesus said, “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”
Because a better day is on the way. God has already prepared a future, just for you. Your present situation is not your final destination—because the best is yet to come.
