“Eyes on God”

By Dianne Prince

“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you” (2 Chronicles 20:12, NIV).

In our scripture today, King Jehoshaphat faced overwhelming odds as several nations rose against him in battle. Despite the fear and uncertainty, his prayer to God was simple, yet profound: “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.”

Jehoshaphat teaches us a powerful lesson when dealing with an impossible situation—when we are unsure, our focus should shift from the problem to the One who has all power in His hands, the One who knows all things and the one who is everywhere at the same time. Instead of allowing fear to paralyze us, we are called to fix our eyes on the Lord, trusting that He will provide direction and victory in His perfect time.

Jesus tells us in John 14:1, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me” (NIV). Even when we cannot see the full picture, God sees. God knows. And God is always working. Our role is to seek Him through His Word, surrendering our worries and fears to Him through prayer. And trust that He will make a way where there seems to be none.

Your reminder for today is this: We all have moments of indecision, times when we feel powerless and unsure of the next step. During those times, do not look down and do not get distracted by looking around, but look up. Keep your eyes on God. And remember that even when we do not have the answers, God does. When the path ahead is unclear, God’s wisdom is much deeper than yours. His strength is far greater than yours. And His power outmatches any force in the universe. When you fix your eyes on Him, He will always lead you to His purpose and He will always surround you with His peace.
