“Grace Greater Than Guilt”
By Dianne Prince
“Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and He knows everything” (1 John 3:20, NLT).
We have all done things in the past that we regret. The enemy loves to bring those memories back—reminding us of what we said, what we did, or what we failed to do. He wants us to feel guilty, inadequate, and unworthy.
But God reminds us not to dwell on our past choices that were not in line with His Word. Why? Because when we confessed them to Him, He forgave us completely and threw them into the sea of forgetfulness. If He no longer remembers them, why should we?
Even when we strive to do the right thing, there are moments when we fall short. Sometimes our best efforts are misunderstood. Our kindness is rejected. Our words are taken the wrong way.
John gives us three reminders in today’s verse:
First, even when we mess up, there is no need to beat ourselves up—God is greater than our mistakes.
Second, even when others misunderstand us, God knows our hearts.
And third, even when people reject our kindness, God understands our intentions.
Be encouraged today—God sees you.
He sees your effort to live right.
He sees your prayers for your family.
He sees your care for loved ones who are struggling.
He sees your sacrifices for others.
So keep doing good. Keep speaking kind words. Keep serving with a spirit of excellence. Because it is not about your past mistakes, and it is not about being perfect today—it is about the heart behind what you do.
Whatever happened yesterday, whatever comes your way today, and whatever others may say, remember this: God’s grace is always greater than your guilt.
