“A Legacy of Light”
By Dianne Prince
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” — Matthew 5:14 (NKJV)
There is a light within us that no darkness has ever been able to extinguish.
It has burned through centuries of hardship. It has shone in classrooms, pulpits, courtrooms, and quiet kitchens where prayers were whispered over children and dreams. It is the light of hope—God-given, Spirit-fed, and history-tested.
Jesus declares that we are the light of the world. Not will be. Not someday. Are. That means our presence carries purpose. Our voices carry weight. Our lives carry divine reflection.
The brilliance of pioneers like Thurgood Marshall illuminated courtrooms with justice. The courage of Rosa Parks lit a movement with quiet resolve. They did not create the Light—they reflected it. And so do we.
Even now, in moments when the world feels dim, the glow of resilience, creativity, worship, and community shines bright. In every act of excellence, in every stand for truth, in every choice to love over bitterness, the light grows stronger.
We are heirs to a radiant legacy. And more than that, we are carriers of eternal hope.
So let your light rise today. Let it reach your family, your workplace, your neighborhood. Darkness does not have the final word. The Light does. And it lives within you.
