“Beware of Distractions”
By Dianne Prince
“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:58).
The devil specializes in filling our day with busy work. Being busy does not necessarily mean we are busy for the right reason. Thus, it is important for us to be prayerful and intentional about what we allow to occupy our day.
The enemy is the master of distractions. So many times, we are so busy trying to address the issue he placed before us until we get distracted from what is important in life. So many times, we get off task because we end up dealing with issues that do not matter in the grand scheme of things.
What really matters is to have constant fellowship with God, to take care of our families, and to pour into the lives of people who cannot help themselves.
God has given each of us a divine assignment to carry out on his behalf each and every day. Our challenge is to discern those things that will edify the kingdom of God from those things that are simply distractions from the enemy designed to disrupt what really needs to be focused on.
Sometimes disruptions are necessary. Other times they are directly from the enemy. Today, be prayerful about how you allow your day to be interrupted. Be careful not to allow other people to fill up your day with their priorities. Keep in mind that other people’s lack of planning should not become your emergency. Learn to say “No” to things that do not edify God or further His cause. And when distractions from the enemy come, stand firm. Do not be moved. Give yourself fully to the work of the Lord. And know that your labor will not be in vain because only what you do for Christ will last.
