“Call Jesus”

By Dianne Prince

“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3, NKJV).

There are many things in life beyond our control: the timing or manner in which a loved one is saved, a negative choice made by a young adult that lands them on the news, the death of a family member, an unexpected maintenance bill, a sudden health crisis, or a broken family relationship caused by others.

Today’s scripture reminds us that when unexpected events occur, we shouldn’t rush to fix them ourselves. Instead, we are called to get quiet and call on Jesus—literally by name—until we have the assurance that He hears us and the confidence that He is working on the answer to our prayers.

When you call on Jesus, He will give you a new perspective on your situation, strength to endure the challenges, and the endurance to hold up under pressure until deliverance comes.

While we cannot control many events in life, we can control how we respond. So, ask yourself: What are you trying to control that is beyond your power? Who are you trying to change when only God can transform them? What battle are you fighting that is wearing you down?

Here’s your reminder for today: When life is uncertain, Jesus is certain. So, stop fighting battles you cannot win. Instead, surrender control to Jesus. Rely on Him to guide you in what you can do, ask Him to reveal what is beyond your ability, and entrust the unknown to Him. When you surrender to Him, Jesus will show you how to handle each step. His Word promises that when you call on Him, He will answer and reveal great and mighty things you do not know.
