“Don’t Worry, Seek God”
By Rev. Everett R. Kimble, Sr.
Matthew 6:33, 34 – “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” (New Living Translation)
None of us wake up in the morning thinking; I hope that this will be the worst day of my life. Or, I can’t wait to get fired from my job today. I don’t believe anyone is praying that the doctor will give them some really bad news or they are looking forward to visiting the ATM and finding that all of their funds have been stolen. I can’t imagine someone wanting to receive word that their greatest nightmare has come true, but each and everyday believers everywhere wake up and unconsciously do the equivalent to all these things, they worry.
Worry, for the believer is just like untreated hypertension, left unattended it is a silent killer. Worry can snatch the joy out of an otherwise good day, the peace out of our good work environment, the praise from our worship, and ultimately the Glory from the life God has given us. Worry wreaks havoc where ever it is and right here is where I would like to encourage someone today.
Don’t let tomorrow’s worry rob you of your grace for today.
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” (Matthew 6:33, 34)
Stop worrying! Your grace for today is in knowing that God loves you and that He has got your back. Living for Him means that not only does He know what you need, but He will move heaven and earth to make sure that you have all you need to accomplish His will and in fact, He already has.
Accepting Jesus as your Savior means you already have everything you need. I know, worry is hard to let go of, but it is completely unnecessary. Whatever you are facing right now, God has already worked it out. You can step worry-free into this wonderful day that has been prepared for you with confidence and power knowing that God has given you grace for today, and He is ready to turn what seems like a mess, into a miracle.
No worries, just blessings. Have a wonderful day!
