“Give It to God”
By Dianne Prince
“Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall” (Psalm 55:22, NLT).
Although we know that God is a deliverer and that He specializes in handling things that are impossible, today’s scripture reminds us that sometimes, we worry needlessly about things we cannot change. The truth of the matter is there are some things that come into lives that we do not have the power, the wisdom, or the strength to handle.
Today, if you are the least bit concerned about a nagging problem or about a pressing need, lay it at the feet of Jesus and let it go. Perhaps there is someone in your life you have been trying to reach—trying to get them to change for years. It is time to leave them alone and put them in the hands of the Lord. Perhaps there is a situation in your life that you have been trying to get under control for years—maybe it is your health maybe it is your finances or maybe it is the actions and choices of your adult children. Well, it is time to let it go and give it to the Lord for once and for all.
Think about it. God has sustained you in days gone by. When you were weak, He gave you the strength to go on another day. When you were tired, He gave you the energy to keep moving forward. And right now, your life and everything about you are being held together by Him. Therefore, just like He took care of things in the past, He is willing and more than able to take care of things right now. God does not need your help in managing the affairs of your life, nor does He need your help in managing the people around you.
Today, make a deliberate effort to let go of trying to handle your own problems. Through prayer, release all of your hopeless situations and relinquish all of the difficult people around you to the Lord. He promises if you “Give your burdens to the LORD, He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.”
