God Sends Both Sunshine and Storms

By Dianne Prince

“On a good day, enjoy yourself; on a bad day, examine your conscience. God arranges for both kinds of days so that you will not take anything for granted.” — Ecclesiastes 7:14 (MSG)

God, in His infinite wisdom, allows both blessings and burdens into our lives—not as punishment, but as purposeful tools to shape us. Today’s scripture reminds us that adversity does not always signal wrongdoing; instead, it can be God’s way of refining us and revealing areas where we still need to grow.

He may allow our faith to falter so that we will draw closer to Him. He may permit tension in our relationships to deepen our patience and grace. Financial loss might come to remind us where true security lies. A damaged reputation, failing health, or mental unrest may be allowed not to break us, but to bring us to a place of full surrender. Sometimes, God even permits global disruptions—such as a pandemic—not to destroy us, but to strip away our distractions and lead us back to Him.

Through it all, God’s goal remains the same: to strengthen your faith, develop your character, and make you more like Christ. He is pruning away what hinders and planting what helps, always with your spiritual growth in mind.

Today, in your quiet moments, ask God to reveal what He is working on in you. Thank Him for His loving discipline and praise Him for walking beside you through every trial. Whether today is filled with sunshine or storms, remember—God is using it all for your good and His glory.

There is purpose in every season and hope in every challenge because God is with you in them all.
