“Good News”
By Dianne Prince
“I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord” (Luke 2:10-11, NIV).
Good news travel fast. A baptism of a family member or the miraculous healing from sickness are good news stories that we love to share. However, as good as our news is, the birth of Jesus is the greatest news ever to be proclaimed. The good news about the birth of Jesus is He is the promised one to take on all the sins of the world and through His death everybody in the world has an opportunity for eternal life.
The good news about Jesus is He not only gave us eternal life, but He guards our eternal life, and it cannot be taken away. Jesus holds our today and our tomorrow in His hands. He orchestrates precisely what will happen in our day every minute of each day of our lives. And, because He knows our future needs, He has already put plans in place to provide for them. His provision for us does not always look like the answer we are expecting but it is always exactly what we need based on His long-term plans for us.
The other good news about Jesus is He does not play by the rules of the universe. To us, two minus two equals zero. To Him, two minus two can equal four if He commands it to be so. To us, a terminal illness means death. To Jesus, a terminal illness is an opportunity for Him to perform a miraculous healing and grant a long, prosperous life.
Today, pass along the good news about the saving grace of Jesus to those who have not received Him as their Lord and Savior. Pass along the good news of His restoring power to those who are saved but have lost their way. Pass along the good news of his rebuilding power to those who are at a low point in their lives. And pass along the good news of His miracle working power to those who have given up hope. Your good news will bring about great joy in the life of someone who needs to be inspired.
