Gratitude That Glorifies God
By Dianne Prince
“One of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks.” — Luke 17:15–16 (NKJV)
Ten men were healed that day, but only one came back. The others went on their way, excited about the blessing yet forgetting the One who blessed them. The thankful man did something different—he returned. His gratitude drew him closer to Jesus, and his worship brought glory to God.
Gratitude that glorifies God is more than a polite “thank You.” It is a heartfelt response that seeks out the Source of every blessing. Our gratitude glorifies God when we recognize that every answered prayer, every open door, and every moment of peace is evidence of His grace at work in our lives. When we pause to thank Him, we give Him the honor that belongs to Him alone.
God delights in our gratitude—not because He needs our praise, but because our praise keeps our hearts aligned with His. Thanking God deepens our relationship with Him and reminds us that we are not self-made; we are sustained by the grace of Almighty God.
Today, pause. Seek God. And say, “Thank You.” Thank Him not only for what He has done, but for who He is—faithful, merciful, and kind. Gratitude that glorifies God does not fade when circumstances change. It flows freely from a heart that knows His goodness firsthand.
As you move through your day, let gratitude be your song and thanksgiving your language. In every situation, find a reason to praise Him. The more you thank God, the more aware you become of His presence—and that awareness will carry you through anything.
