In Every Season, God Remains the Same

By Dianne Prince

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.”— Ecclesiastes 3:1–2

As the cool weather transitions in, replacing the muggy days of summer, we are reminded that life is constantly changing. We all go through different seasons in life—seasons of joy in the birth of a newborn baby and seasons of sorrow in the loss of a loved one. We go through seasons of prosperity when we receive an increase in salary and seasons of lack when our bank account is overdrawn. We experience seasons of good health and seasons of sickness. And we encounter seasons of standing on top of the world and seasons of disappointment and hopelessness.

Seasons will come, and seasons will go. Seasons change periodically, and often they repeat themselves.

As long as we are on this earth, we will go through all kinds of seasons. Some will come through no fault of our own; others will arise from the choices we make.

When adversity comes, be mindful that there is a time and a season for every phase of your life. Remember that the harshness of winter comes, but in time, spring bursts forth with life. The destructive winds of a hurricane may linger for a while, but eventually the storm runs its course and gives way to the bright sunshine of a new day.

In whatever season you find yourself this morning, keep life in perspective. God planned every moment of your life, and that plan includes both the ups and the downs, the good and the bad, and life and death.

As you navigate your way through tough times, also keep trials in perspective. Trials are a part of life. God allowed them to come. He knows how long they will last, and He is in control of the outcome.

To encourage yourself through the various seasons, in addition to keeping life and trials in perspective, keep God in perspective. Although seasons change, God never does. He will always be God, and He will always have the final Word.

Remember today that the Word of God will sustain you through every season life brings your way. Rest in the fact that He will fulfill every promise He has made to you, for He declares, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Word will stand forever.”Mark 13:31
