“It’s Go Time”
By Rev. Everett R. Kimble, Sr.
“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” — Isaiah 6:8 (KJV)
After a year of college, I’d had enough so I joined the NAVY. I did well on the entrance test which allowed me to choose an assignment and upon completing boot camp I was sent off to begin training in my chosen field. My expertise would eventually require me to be stationed onboard a ship for a period of time, but before I could be assigned to a ship, I would first have to complete all the requirements. It took about two years and three or four moves before I was done, but I did it, and it was finally time for me to head off and put all that training to good use. I must admit, it was a little frightening, but I had to trust my teachers and my teachings and just lean in.
In our passage today, we find the prophet Isaiah in a similar place. He had reached the place where all of his life training had come together and awakened his spirit to his next assignment. In a vision he sees the Lord seated on a throne high and lifted up, and the train of the Lord’s robe filled the temple. He was afraid, ashamed, alone, and confused but the Lord cleaned him up, prepared him for his mission and asks the question. “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Seemingly without even thinking about it, Isaiah responds, “Here am I; send me.” It was go time, and Isaiah was ready.
And here is where I would like to encourage someone today by telling you that this phase of your training is over. God has been preparing you for this moment for a long while now, and I am here to tell you that it is go time. Your whole life has been the testing and preparing ground for what you are meant to be and do right now. I know you may be a little afraid of where you are going and ashamed of where you have been. I understand that things are confusing and that you may be feeling all alone but remember, it is God that has bought you safe this far and He certainly take you the rest of the way.
I finally made it to my ship, and all the preparation paid off. I eventually got over my fear and got down to business. Isaiah responded to his call, and because of it we have some of the most cherished revelations about the coming Messiah in all of scripture. Just like Isaiah, you are finally here, and there are a lot of people waiting to receive the blessings and hear the messages that only you can deliver. Trust God and all of the preparation He has given you. Jump out there because it’s go time. Oh yeah, I eventually went back to college and finished my degree.
“Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
I pray that something wonderful happens to you today. Have a bountiful and blessed Friday!
