“It’s Time to Move”

By Dianne Prince

Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out” (Numbers 9:22, NIV).

In today’s scripture, we glimpse what it means to await God’s guidance. The children of Israel journeyed to the Promised Land, led by a cloud guiding them night and day. When the cloud moved, it signaled from God to proceed with confidence. Yet, when it settled over the tabernacle, it instructed them to stand still with a “settled” spirit. Why? God had placed them in a holding pattern until further guidance. Sometimes this waiting lasted for days, others for months, until God signaled it was time to advance.

God may prompt us to act swiftly or instruct us to wait indefinitely. The lesson today: while waiting, “settle in.” Avoid impatience, frustration, or rushing ahead of God’s plan. Never resort to inappropriate means for relief. Instead, wait patiently until God’s message is clear.

If your prayers remain unanswered, enter a holding pattern. During this time, delve into God’s Word, study daily, and stand firm. Adhere to the last instruction until God signals the next move.

Today, refrain from reacting to discomfort based solely on logic or external pressure. Don’t let emotions or well-meaning advice dictate your actions. Without clear guidance from God to move, settle where you are and await His timing.
