“Our Unchanging God”

By Dianne Prince

“For I am the Lord, I change not” (Malachi 3:6, KJV).

In a world that is constantly changing, it is encouraging to know we have a stable and unchanging God. His Word can always be depended upon, and His presence can always be relied on.

If you set your eyes on the changes going on around you long enough, life will get the best of you. Your faith will waver. Doubt will set in. Have you been in a situation and instead of trusting God to get you out of it, you asked yourself, “How can “I” get out of this? What can “I” do to make this go away? Have you ever looked at all the changes going on around you and took matters into your own hands to try and tilt things in your favor?

Today’s scripture reminds us that when change comes and it does not appear to be to our advantage, we should not be quick to solve it ourselves. We should not try and manipulate our way out of it. We should not try and orchestrate a specific solution. Instead, we are to prayerfully stay where God put us until He tells you to move.

Change is not something to be feared, to be dreaded, or with which to be consumed. Instead, change is to be expected and it is designed by God as an opportunity to exercise our faith, to depend on Him, to surrender our all to Him, and to trust Him completely with our lives.

Your reminder for today is this: you can rely on God to string the good and bad events of your life together and order them, so they work out for your good. When you are at a place where you can do nothing to help yourself, you can confidently depend on God to make a way out.

The song writer says, “Oh what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.” God can be depended on to provide you a lifeline when you are at the end of yourself. He will provide you with a hiding place when the enemy is hot on your trail. And He will give you wisdom when you need divine guidance on what to do.

Today, rely on God amid your ever-changing circumstance. Tell Him what is out of order in your life. And once you tell Him, rest in His promise to protect you, to provide for you, and to guard you on every side. And remember, God does not promise you that every day will be smooth sailing, but He does promise you a safe arrival.
