“Peace Begins with Prayer”
By Dianne Prince
“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.” –1 Timothy 2:1–2 (NKJV)
So many things happen each day that can easily disturb our peace—unexpected news, difficult people, or overwhelming responsibilities. Yet, Scripture reminds us that peace begins with prayer. When we pray for people everywhere, we release our worries into God’s capable hands. Pray for your family, friends, and neighbors. Ask God to meet their needs, soften hearts, and draw them closer to Him. Doing so removes bitterness and replaces it with compassion.
Pray also for those in authority—leaders in government, your workplace, and even within your community. Ask God to grant them wisdom, integrity, and discernment. When those in leadership walk in righteousness, it blesses everyone under their care and contributes to a stable, peaceful environment.
Then, pray for your own surroundings. Speak words of peace over your home. Keep it filled with gratitude, kindness, and forgiveness. Create spaces of calm through prayer, worship, and gentle words. When conflict arises, respond with grace instead of anger, knowing that peace is a choice that begins within.
As you lift others before God, let go of every anxious thought. Trust that He hears and answers. When prayer becomes your first response, peace will guard your heart and guide your days with quiet strength and unwavering hope.
