“Pick Your Battles”

“God told the serpent, ‘I’m declaring war between you and the Woman, between your offspring and hers. He’ll wound your head, and you’ll wound his heel’” (Genesis 3:15, MSG).
When Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree, God informed them that as long as they lived on this earth, there would be a perpetual struggle between them and the devil—a continuous struggle between good and evil.
Be mindful today that while struggles are inevitable, the devil cannot do more to you than Jesus allows. To make your life uncomfortable and unbearable, he amplifies your problems, making them seem insurmountable. His intent is to influence your conduct to the point that it hinders the unsaved from coming to Christ. He aims to provoke you into reacting to unpleasant circumstances and unkind people with anger, rage, and harsh words.
In our scripture this morning, God tells us the devil will always place stumbling blocks in our path to trip us up. Though these stumbles may slow us down, they will not destroy us, because in the same verse, God promises to catch us if we fall.
When the enemy places hardships and inconveniences in your path today, choose your battles wisely. When the devil nips at your heel, do not be moved or shaken. When he makes small things seem impossible, view them through God’s eyes. And when he whispers that things won’t work out, remember that God has the final word.
God is bigger than your problems, and He is only a prayer away. He is right by your side, anchoring you and helping you keep your footing until things settle down.
You may not win every battle, but with God fighting alongside you, you will always win the war.
