“Praise in the Pause”

By Dianne Prince

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
Psalm 34:1 (NKJV)

Life moves quickly. Our schedules fill up, our minds race ahead, and sometimes praise becomes an afterthought. Yet David reminds us that praise should not depend on our pace or our circumstances. It is a continual rhythm—a choice we make, not a feeling we wait for.

“Bless the Lord at all times” means in moments of peace and pressure, clarity and confusion, joy and difficulty. When we pause to praise, even briefly, something within us shifts. Praise refocuses our attention from our problems to our Provider. It reminds us that God is still in control and still worthy of our gratitude, no matter what the day brings.

The pause between tasks or thoughts can become a sacred space. A whispered “thank You, Lord” in a grocery line, a quiet “hallelujah” on the commute home, or a gentle song of praise before sleep—these small pauses keep our hearts tuned to heaven.

Today, give yourself permission to pause and praise. In every breath, there is a reason to thank Him. In every moment, there is an opportunity to bless His name.

When we fill our pauses with praise, we invite God’s presence into the spaces we often overlook.
