“Persistence”

By Dianne Prince

“Now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? 8 I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly” (Luke 18:7-8, NASB).

In our scripture this morning, there was a judge in a city who neither feared God nor respected man. In simpler terms, this man cared little for both God and people. In the same city, a widow repeatedly sought the judge’s intervention because her rights were being violated, and she needed his protection. However, the judge consistently ignored the widow. Nevertheless, due to her persistent appeals, she eventually wore down the judge, who then heard her case and ruled in her favor.

Jesus shared this story to emphasize the importance of praying continuously and not giving up, especially when facing seemingly impossible situations. Even when faced with closed doors or when seeking direction with a delayed answer, maintaining unwavering prayer is essential. Although answers to your prayers may not come immediately, they will eventually come when you pray earnestly, consistently, and passionately.

Here’s your reminder for today: God will bring about change for those who cry out to Him day and night. If you have been praying for a change for a long time, do not lose faith, doubt, or alter your prayer midway. Be patient, resolute, and persistently present your desires before the Lord until He provides an answer.
