“Rejoice in Adversity”

By Dianne Prince

Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls—Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. ]The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, and He will make me walk on my high hills” (Habakkuk 3:17-19, NKJV).

Today’s scripture reminds us that we should always have praise on our lips. Why? Because no matter what negative circumstance comes into our lives, God permits it to arrive before we even see it. Once it manifests, God holds absolute power over it. He controls the negativity it brings day in and day out, and He governs the outcome regardless of how long it lingers and despite our efforts to influence it.

Your reminder for today is this: God commands every force that rises against you. He oversees every ill-intended action of those who aim to hinder you. And He reigns over the strongholds that seek to keep you in bondage.

You can shout in the midst of adversity today because God reverses circumstances that seem predetermined. He overrules those in authority who make decisions against you, overturning even those already set by governing powers. He alters the intentions of those who seek to harm you, always issuing the final judgment in every matter concerning you.

Rejoice today. Shout alleluia! Remain steadfast in prayer. Stand in faith every moment. And maintain hope even when what you see contradicts what you believe God for. Why? Because that persistent, adverse situation isn’t concluded until God speaks His final Word. With God, His plans remain unalterable, and His timing is unpredictable. Thank God today for His omnipotence and ultimate control.
