The Blessing of Seeking God First

By Dianne Prince

“O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water” (Psalm 63:1, NIV).

The greatest decision you will make each day is not what you will wear, where you will go, or what you will accomplish. The greatest decision is whether you will seek God first. Before the noise of the world fills your mind, let the voice of God fill your heart. Before you carry your burdens, bring them to the One who has promised to carry you.

When you begin your morning with God, everything changes. Peace replaces panic. Faith overcomes fear. Hope rises above discouragement. Problems that once looked like mountains become opportunities to watch God move. Burdens that weighed you down become lighter because His strength is greater than your weakness.

Do not fit God into your schedule. Build your day around His presence. Seek Him early. Walk with Him continually. Praise Him faithfully. As you keep company with Christ, He will direct your steps, strengthen your heart, and remind you that the God who woke you this morning will faithfully carry you through this day.

As you walk with Him, His peace will guard your heart, His wisdom will direct your steps, and His presence will remind you that you are never alone. Seek Him first, and you will discover that every step is stronger because He walks before you.

Carry this truth with you today: Seek God first, and everything else will find its proper place.
