Shine in Everyday Moments

By Dianne Prince

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16 (NKJV)

We often think of shining for Christ as something that happens on big stages or in great acts of faith. But Jesus reminds us that shining is for everyday choices, right where we are.

  1. Shine through kindness. Our words can bring warmth and encouragement to someone’s weary heart.

  2. Shine through patience. Our calm spirit can be a testimony of peace when others are restless.

  3. Shine through love. Our willingness to serve or forgive can reflect the heart of Christ more than we realize.

Shining does not always mean doing something extraordinary. More often, it is about living faithfully in the ordinary, choosing your words carefully, being deliberate about your attitude, and being conscious of your actions as you go about your daily business—At home, in the grocery store, when you are with your work colleagues, and everywhere there are people.

Today, let your light shine in the everyday moments. Even the smallest spark of light in a dark situation points people toward the hope we have in Jesus and brings glory to God.
