The Battle Is the Lord’s

“Do not be afraid nor dismayed…for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” — 2 Chronicles 20:15b (NIV)
Fear has a way of sneaking up on us. We worry about our health. We worry about having enough money to pay the bills. We worry about the choices our family members make. And we worry about what tomorrow may bring. Today’s scripture reminds us that when we have done what we can, we must trust God to do what we cannot.
There are three things to take from today’s scripture.
First, don’t be afraid of what you’re facing. God knows your situation, and He is still in control. When you don’t see a way, God will make a way. And if you make a mess of things, God will give you a fresh start.
Second, don’t be discouraged by what comes against you. Life will get hard. Your home may be troubled, your body may be weary, and your heart may be heavy. But God’s Word declares, “I will help you and uphold you with my righteous right hand.” You may be exhausted, but God is greater than your exhaustion.
Finally, remember that your battle is an opportunity to trust God. Sometimes He allows us to face what is bigger than us so we can discover just how great He is. So, pray about it. Give it to God. And go about your day as if all is well.
Walk by faith, not by fear. Stand on His promises and trust His power.
And when the battle gets tough, remind yourself: I may be in the battle, but I am not in this fight alone. The battle is not mine—it belongs to the Lord.
