“Give the Gift of Grace”
By Dianne Prince
“And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32, NKJV).
Grace is the unmerited favor of God that transforms our hearts and how we relate to God and those around us. Grace flows through our actions, attitudes, and responses to others. What does grace look like? Well, in practical terms, grace forgives when it is hard. It lets go of bitterness and chooses to release others from guilt, even when they do not deserve it.
Grace reaches out to help someone in need without expecting anything in return. It is that extra effort to encourage, support, or uplift another person.
Grace is being patient with someone who frustrates or tests you. It understands that people are on their own journey and offer them room for growth.
Grace does not shy away from the truth but delivers it gently and lovingly, seeking to build others up, not tear them down.
Grace sets aside personal preferences or conveniences to serve others. It values relationships over being right or getting ahead.
Grace extends second chances. It gives others room to try again, believing in their potential to change and grow, just as God does for us.
And finally, Grace admits mistakes and seeks forgiveness. It recognizes the need for God’s help and offers the same humility to others.
Living out grace means passing on the love of Jesus as a lifestyle. It is not about being perfect, but it is all about allowing God’s goodness to flow through us to bless others.
During this Christmas season, give the gift of grace to someone who does not deserve it. You will find that as you pass it on, grace will return unto you.
