“Victory Through the Word”

By Dianne Prince

“And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him [Jesus] for a season” (Luke 4:13, KJV).

Temptation is everywhere—from the urge to gossip, to workplace conflict, to the attraction to things clearly forbidden by God’s Word.

In Matthew 4, Jesus shows us how to confront temptation. When He was tempted by the devil in the wilderness, He responded with Scripture. Each time the enemy tested Him, Jesus answered, “It is written.” He repeated the Word of God until the devil gave up. Scripture was His weapon, and He used it persistently and effectively.

Today’s verse reminds us that God’s Word is our most powerful defense against temptation. Whatever form the attack takes, it can be resisted and defeated by standing firm in Scripture. The key is to find a promise that speaks directly to your situation. Be patient, stay grounded, and trust God to act.

When the enemy tries to draw you into his deception, do not take the bait. Confront him boldly with the truth of God’s Word. God’s Word still has the power to silence the enemy and lead you into victory.

Today, stay strong, speak the Word, and watch the enemy flee. Your victory is already written.
